Theo Rosenfeld – 8PM & 10PM
Born and raised in the DC area, saxophonist and composer Theo Rosenfeld grew up in Montgomery County’s music programs. He began with clarinet at age 10, eventually earning straight blue ribbons in state and county clarinet competitions playing Brahms and Mozart – and moved to jazz saxophone in high school, prompted by his band director, Joan Rackey of Albert Einstein HS. He worked his way up to soloing with the Jazz Academy of Music and was first chair alto in the Maryland All‐State Jazz Band. Theo began working on the DC music scene at age 16, primarily as a sideman, performing regularly at Columbia Station and Twins. He has also appeared at Westminster Jazz Fridays and sat in as a part of the DC Jazz Festival. In his teen years Theo studied with two of DC’s most notable reedmen: Reginald Jackson and Paul Carr. He has also played with musicians including Ingrid Jensen, Javon Jackson, Warren Wolf, Tim Green, Antonio Hart, and Billy Hart. Theo is currently at Oberlin College and Conservatory,studying with Gary Bartz.
