JASON HAMMERS – 8PM & 10PM

Saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and music educator Jason Hammers can be heard performing across the Washington, DC region as well as throughout the northeast. He has performed as a leader or sideman at such renowned venues as Bohemian Caverns, Black Fox Lounge (DC), Virginia Museum of Fine Art, Bogart’s in the Fan (Richmond, VA), Ferguson Center for the Arts (Newport News, VA), An Die Musik (Baltimore), Chris’ Jazz Café (Philadelphia), Williamsburg Music Center, and The Local (NYC).

It was while in high school that he discovered his interest in jazz, which was only furthered when he joined the school’s big band. Jason felt drawn to this music for the amount of freedom and personal expression it allows, as well as the opportunity to create music in the moment. Years later, his passion for music has only grown, and has had the opportunity to share the stage with world-class artists as Kurt Elling, Steve Zegree, the New York Voices, Kenny Garrett, and Dave Douglas.

Jason’s quartet brings equal parts tradition and innovation to the bandstand, mixing jazz, rock, latin, and even classical music. His band will feature three of the area’s finest musicians, including Larri Branch on piano, Brian Cruse on bass, and C.J. Wolfe on drums.
