Victor Haskins is a professional trumpeter and composer/arranger based out of Richmond, VA.
Victor has been hard at work honing his craft during his career thus far as a musician. Some of his more recent accomplishments include placing 2nd in the 2012 National Trumpet Competition Jazz Division and winning the Jazz Scholarship from the International Trumpet Guild (ITG) to attend the 2012 ITG Conference in Columbus, Georgia. Victor also won an award for Outstanding Soloist at the 2012 Notre Dame Jazz Festival for his work in the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Small Jazz Ensemble, and 2nd place in the 2012 VCU Symphony Concerto Competition. In 2011, Victor was 1st alternate in the ITG Classical Solo Competition. In addition, Victor has been named a Joseph J. Kennedy, Jr. Scholar twice consecutively by the Richmond Jazz Society.
Most recently, Victor was invited as a special guest for the Izmir International Jazz Camp, where he will be teaching and performing jazz during the month of July in 2012 in Izmir, Turkey.
Victor has shared the stage with many notable musicians, including (but not limited to) Steve Kessler, John Riley, Royce Campbell, Tia Fuller, Michael Hawkins, Russell Wilson, Bob Mintzer, and Warren Wolf.
Victor is an active leader of his own groups on the Richmond scene, and in 2011, Victor’s quartet was the one of the headlining performances of Richmond's historic 2nd Street Festival.
Victor studies at Virginia Commonwealth University with John D’earth, Skip Gailes, Doug Richards, and Rex Richardson.
