Since his New York City arrival in 2009, Abe Ovadia has become an essential
part of the city's jazz scene as a guitarist & composer. He has been
described as "a musician with heart and soul, who puts his beautiful sound
at the service of emotion." by world renowned pianist Jean-Michel Pilc.
Abe's group has performed at many of the city's top jazz venues including
Smalls Jazz Club, Cornelia Street Cafe, Jazz at Kitano, The Bar Next Door,
among others.
In 2010, Abe was heard by by Half Notes Records Producer Jeff Levenson. Abe
was given the title as a "Promising Artist of the 21st Century" which lead
to a tour of Costa Rica the following summer. Abe's first album "The Jem"
was released in spring 2011 followed by performances up the east coast.
Venues included Twins Jazz in Washington, DC; Chris' Jazz Cafe in
Philadelphia, PA; An Die Musik in Baltimore, MD; Acton Jazz Cafe in Acton,
MA. The Abe Ovadia Group has included musicians such as Brian Lynch, Jd
Allen, & Benito Gonzalez.
