Sotê was born and raised in São Paulo, Brazil, where he began learning guitar by playing along with his favorite songs when they came on the radio. He led the University of Texas Brazilian Ensemble in Austin (2004-2005). With his brother, Marco, Sotê then recorded his first album, "26 Years Later," in Bamako, Mali in 2006. That same year he moved to South Royalton, Vermont, where his bands became a staple at the local bar. Sotê blends a personal voice with bossa nova guitar, jazz standards, and rock with a world music flavor.
